Tucker Carlson blasted President Donald Trump for giving an interview to an adversary news outlet to attack one of his most loyal officials in his administration, The Daily Caller reports.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson said in his program on Thursday that Trump’s attack on Attorney General Jeff Sessions is a “useless, self-destructive act.”
Carlson said, “Pay less attention to the New York Times and more to Matt Drudge… Lay off Jeff Sessions. He’s your friend.”
He added that Trump’s remark may be due to his lack of political experience as he deals with a sudden federal investigation into his family finances.
Sessions, who served as a state attorney general before he was elected to Congress as U.S. senator in Alabama, was the first sitting senator to support Trump in the Republican presidential primary.
In an interview with the New York Times on Wednesday, Trump said that that he would not have nominated Sessions to bevome attorney general if he had known that he would recuse himself from the Russian election meddling investigations, calling the decision “very unfair” to him.
