Michael Short resigned on Tuesday, ending hours of speculation over whether the White House press aide would be fired by President Trump’s new communications director Anthony Scaramucci, 100% Fed Up reports.
In a text message sent to The Hill, Short said, “have resigned, effective immediately. It was a privilege to serve the President of the United States.”
Short is an ally of White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and now former Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who stepped down last week, and worked with both men at the Republican National Committee (RNC).
Short’s resignation came after news emerged Tuesday that Scaramucci planned to fire him over allegations that he leaked information to the media.
The former Wall Street financier then threatened to fire the entire White House press staff to remove all possible leakers.
“I’m going to fire everybody, that’s how I’m going to do it,” Scaramucci said.
