White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders threatened to stop her on-camera press briefing on Wednesday because reporters didn’t ask about topics other than President Donald Trump’s announcement to ban transgender individuals from the U.S. military “in any capacity,” the Gateway Pundit reports.
The White House on Wednesday did not provide specifics on President Trump’s announcement.
Sanders, in her first solo on-camera press briefing since replacing Sean Spicer, was faced with a slew of questions on the president’s surprising announcement on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
She told reporters that the president’s decision was based on “consultation” with the defense officials from the Pentagon and his national security team.
When reporters pressed Sanders on what would happen to transgender service members currently serving in the armed forces, she did not provide an answer.
Sanders said the implementation of the new policy would be something the White House and the Pentagon would “work together to lawfully determine.”
