“Manspreading” is now not allowed in Los Angeles Metro, which is the latest public transit system in the country to slap fines for such action, The Daily Caller reports.
Male passengers who spread their legs a little too wide will be fined with $75. Vaping in the subway is another offense that incurs the same penalty.
Riders who do not conduct themselves according to so-called “metro manners” will also be required to pay. A person blocking the automatic doors without any particular reason will also be slapped with the fine.
Female riders often complain of men doing “manspreading” as this results to discomfort to those seated next to them.
Other major cities across the United States such as New York, Chicago and Boston have campaigned to stop men from “manspreading.”
Feminists argue that the behavior “entitles” men to occupy more space than they deserve.
