Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the top Democrat in the House, condemned the “violent” members of the anti-fascist movement called Antifa, the strongest criticism of the protesters by any Democrat leader.
The group, who clashed with conservative demonstrators in Berkeley, Calif. over the weekend, should be arrested and prosecuted says the California lawmaker.
“The violent actions of people calling themselves Antifa in Berkeley this weekend deserve unequivocal condemnation,” Pelosi said in a statement Wednesday.
“Our democracy has no room for inciting violence or endangering the public, no matter the ideology of those who commit such acts,” she added.
The left-wing group describe themselves as counter-protesters to neo-Nazis and white supremacists.
Over 100 members of the group, wearing black masks and clothing, ran through police barriers at a rally in Berkeley Sunday, chasing down and attacking a small group of pro-Trump demonstrators. The incident resulted to six injuries.

There’s an old saying, “even a broken clock is right twice a day.” And I will always be one to give credit where credit is due, and well, get ready for it…I must agree with something House Democrat Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said. I know, shocking, stop the presses, what is happening in the world…solar eclipse, epic flooding, and now I’m agreeing with Nancy Pelosi. Well, don’t go getting too excited, as Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday said in the movie Tombstone, “my hypocrisy can only go so far.”
