A former inmate of the New York City juvenile detention center reveals in a new lawsuit that young male detainees are regularly abused by female staff, The Dailywire reports.
Franklin Maldonado, 18, who spent time at the Horizon Juvenile Center in the Bronx from 2013 to 2014, filed the lawsuit on Wednesday. He was 15 years old when he was detained.
A supervisor in the facility, Natalie Medford, promised to provide special privileges if Maldonado “took care of her needs,” according to the lawsuit filed by Vik Pawar.
Maldonado said Medford would occasionally release him from a segregated unit called “the hold” and bring him to her office to have sex with him.
“I didn’t have a choice,” Maldonado said. “She was doing everything to make me feel I was doing the right thing. After a while, I started growing up.”
The victim also said that male workers at the juvenile center looked the other way. He said a tour supervisor once admitted to him that female guards regularly preyed on the boys.
