Sen. Dianne Feinstein is facing a backlash from liberals after she refused to back the impeachment of President Donald Trump and instead called for “patience” in dealing with the current chief executive, Infowars reports.
Throughout her entire political career, the California lawmaker is known for her moderation and pragmatism.
But in the Trump era, these qualities could prove politically disadvantageous because of her state’s changing political leanings and demographics.
“I think we have to have some patience, I do… The question is whether he can learn and change. If so, I believe he can be a good president,” said the 84-year-old Feinstein, who is deciding whether she wants to run for a sixth term.
Her remarks were roundly criticized by Democrats especially by her potential rivals for the Senate seat.
“It wasn’t the proper tone or tenor, especially given the current state of politics at the national level,” said California’s state Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León. “We don’t owe Trump patience. We owe Californians resistance.”
