North Korea has warned the U.S. that it would inflict “pain and suffering” if harsh sanctions are approved by the United Nations on Monday, Infowars reports.
“The DPRK is ready and willing to use any form of ultimate means,” the communist regime’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
“The forthcoming measures to be taken by the DPRK will cause the US the greatest pain and suffering it had ever gone through in its entire history,” the ministry said.
The UN Security Council did unanimously approve the sanctions but it was a watered-down resolution that lacks the oil import ban or freeze of Kim Jong-un’s assets that the Trump administration had strongly advocated.
The sanctions were drafted following Pyongyang conducted its sixth and strongest nuclear test last week.
The newly approved resolution aims to control North Korea’s oil imports, ban the country from exporting textile, terminate additional overseas laborer contracts, crack down on smuggling efforts, end joint ventures with other countries and sanction several of the country’s government entities.
