Odell Beckham Jr., the star wide receiver of the NFL’s New York Giants, tweeted on Tuesday that his much criticized urinating dog celebration was a response to President Donald Trump’s criticism of players in the league kneeling during the National Anthem.
Beckham responded to a tweet by CNN editor A.J. Wilingham asking whether his celebration move was in response to Trump’s “son of a b****” comment last week referring to the protesting players.
The four-year receiver replied: “If u seen that, I have to tip my hat to u for thinkin outside the box. #URRIGHTONPOINT impressed.”
It is not clear whether he was just complimenting Willingham’s remarks, or actually confirming Willingham’s assumption.
After the game, in which the Giants suffered a 27-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Beckham explained in an interview the motivation for the controversial celebration, which drew a 15-yard penalty for his team.
“I’m a dog so I acted like a dog. I don’t know if the rulebook said you can’t hike your leg. (The referee) said I peed on somebody, so I was trying to find the imaginary ghost that I peed on. But I didn’t see him.”

Does NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell support this too?
NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. admitted Monday that his “pissing in the end zone” touchdown celebration was on President Trump.
