President Donald Trump has deleted most recent tweets supporting Sen. Luther Strange after the candidate’s loss to conservative firebrand Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate primary, Breitbart reports.
ProPublica said that three recent tweets about Trump’s personal endorsement of Strange were deleted on Tuesday. Older tweets by the president supporting Strange stayed live as of Tuesday.
Trump took to Twitter to congratulate Moore. He had previously promised give his support to him if he won the race.
He wrote, “Congratulations to Roy Moore on his Republican Primary win in Alabama. Luther Strange started way back & ran a good race. Roy, WIN in Dec!”
Moore’s victory is a major triumph for the right-wing faction of the Republican Party. Former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon has backed the campaign of the outspoken former judge.
Moore will square off with Democratic nominee Doug Jones in the general election slated in December for the seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
