A transgendered inmate from California, who was born a man and became a woman, is angry at the state after the female prison he is in denied him access to a razor to shave his beard.
Shiloh Heavenly Quine was sentenced to life in prison for murdering 33-year-old Shahid Ali Baig, a father of three. To make matters worse, Quine’s gender reassignment surgery was paid for by the taxpayers.
Now, Quine is upset because the women’s prison he has been assigned to is refusing to provide him with a razor to shave his beard. You may think its odd that a female can grow a beard and you are not alone on that.
“It’s a very thorough process, which is why it can take a while. But it’s a process every inmate goes through,” explained Terry Thornton, a Corrections Department spokeswoman. “There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to male and female inmates.”
Quine has tried to commit suicide five times in the past and tried to amputate his genitalia. Because of this, he is considered a high risk inmate.
Despite this, he thinks he is entitled to a razor, which could easily be used to commit suicide or to harm another inmate.
