As if losing in 2008 wasn’t humiliating enough for Sen. John McCain. Now he has become the laughing stock of the Republican Party as he continues to attack President Donald Trump.
McCain criticized Trump on Sunday, saying that he doesn’t have a clear foreign policy. Somehow, McCain missed the fact that Trump has already started engaging terrorists in the Middle East and has already responded to North Korea’s aggressive actions.
“I support what he did (Syrian missile strikes) and I support the bunker buster bomb (used in Afghanistan), but we’ve got to develop a strategy,” McCain complained. “There is still not an overall strategy that he can come to Congress and his advisers and say, ‘OK, here is how we are going to handle Syria. Here is how we are going to handle the post-Mosul Iraq.’”
“We have got to have a strategy and I’ll give them some more time, but so far that strategy is not apparent,” he added.
At one point, host Chuck Todd asked McCain if Trump had been sucked into the establishment.
Host Chuck Todd later stated, “There are some that will say the Washington establishment has sucked him (Trump) in,” to which McCain quickly replied with a gleeful smile and laugh, “I hope so.”
It’s hard to take anything McCain says seriously, especially when he is criticizing Trump for not having a clear foreign policy when it is one of the most defined parts of his entire platform.
