President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he would not be attending the White House Correspondents Association Dinner on April 29 and that he would be hosting a “BIG rally” in Pennsylvania instead.
Liberals were furious, attacking the president for not attending the dinner, but Trump didn’t care.

In February, Trump made it clear that he would probably not attend the dinner, saying, “I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!”
Trump’s decision shows how much he dislikes the entire Washington establishment.

The dinner is the biggest night for journalism, nicknamed the ‘Nerd Prom’, and is attended by thousands of people who work in the media as well as invited guests from politics and the entertainment industry. The dinner’s purpose as a fundraiser for journalism scholarships has long been overshadowed by the ‘celebrity party’ culture the dinner evolved since the 1990s.
Good on Trump to stick to his promise. The press has not been fair to him and it is hard to fault our president for not wanting to attend an event that is all about the press.
