President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States can defeat ISIS if they send more troops to the Middle East.
In saying that, Trump made it clear that it wouldn’t take too many more troops to put an end to ISIS once and for all.
“It could be an increase, then an increase, but not many more,” Trump told The Associated Press. “I want to do the job, but not many more.”
Trump’s announcement was a welcome one given how wasteful former President Barack Obama was in the Middle East.
Trump said his plan was to “get rid of ISIS.”
“We have no choice. And other terrorist organizations.”
However, Trump appears to be encountering opposition from within his own administration. National Security Adviser Gen. H.R. McMaster “has been quietly pressing his colleagues to question the underlying assumptions of a draft war plan against the Islamic State that would maintain only a light U.S. ground troop presence in Syria.”
Despite this, Trump remains committed to taking down ISIS and to restoring peace in the Middle East.
