The United States announced on Monday that the THAAD missile defense system it has been installing in South Korea has “reached an initial operating capability to defend against North Korean missiles.”
For weeks, the North Koreans have been threatening the West with armed conflict and they have been trying to test nuclear missiles.
While North Korea is angry that its poorly constructed missiles will have no chance of inflicting harm, China is also angry with the U.S., arguing that the THAAD system could be used against Chinese missiles too.
“It helps in no way to achieve the denuclearization of the peninsula and regional peace and stability,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said last week, according to Agence France-Presse.
He later added that Beijing would “take necessary measures to safeguard its own interests.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
On Tuesday, North Korean officials said that the introduction of the THAAD system, in addition to American bomber drills with Japan and South Korea, had pushed the peninsula to “the brink of nuclear war.”
According to Reuters, North Korea state news agency KCNA reported that the bomber flights were “a nuclear bomb-dropping drill against major objects” in North Korea.
North Korea also warned that President Donald Trump and “other U.S. warmongers are crying out for making a preemptive nuclear strike.”
Somehow North Korea sees us as the warmongers, despite the fact that they are openly testing missiles and threatening to annihilate people.
