A tense moment involving an intersection becoming the crash landing site of a plane was caught on the dashcam of a car.
According to WCPQ in Seattle, a small engine plane experienced engine failure while taking off from an airport in Mukilteo, Washington, on Tuesday. Not long after takeoff, the pilot was forced to crash land the plane in a crowded intersection.
In the clip, the plane comes bursting onto the scene, clipping the traffic light on its way down and eventually exploding as it crashes into the road below.
Conservative Tribune reports:
he U.K. Daily Mail reported that the pilot, an Oregon man, took off from Paine Field just before 3:30 p.m. “He added he attempted to land on Harbor Point Boulevard as it was clear, but inadvertently clipped the power lines,” the outlet reported.
It was the clipping of the power lines that sent a huge fireball flying out over the cars, damaging many of them.
Amanda Hayes, a driver whose car was hit by the fireball, described the moment the explosion went over her car as, “terrifying and hot, but we’re OK, and it’s really all I can ask for that nobody involved was injured.”
The raw footage:
The pilot was able to walk away from the crash, despite it looking horrific in the video.
Ron Cohen, a local pilot, told WCPQ: “It looks like he did an incredible job.”
Incredible might be an understatement. To walk away from a crash with an explosion like that is nothing short of a miracle.
