An Ohio teacher has been fired after a photo surfaced on the Internet showing her dragging a student down the hallway.
The teacher was photographed by one of her co-workers.
According to Fox 2 Now, “The teacher, who worked with children at a Youngstown school in the Mahoning County Head Start program, was employed by Alta Care Group, a non-profit company that services the early education program.”
Due to strict policies against violence, the teacher was terminated immediately once the photo was sent to the authorities.
“I want to make sure it is clear that the individual who was terminated does not reflect the values of the dedicated and skilled professionals at Alta Head Start,” he said, according to the New York Daily News.
“These fine teachers and aides should not be unfairly portrayed as anything less because of the person who was terminated.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
The age and identity of both the child and the teacher are still being withheld. However according to CBS news, Alta Head Start is “a program that works with Youngstown City Schools and serves 845 students up to 5 years old.”
This child was enrolled in the program by parents who presumably wanted to give their pre-schooler a head start in life. Instead, a teacher took it upon herself to treat that child with disrespect and physically harm the young child.
The teacher’s behavior is absolutely disgusting. Children are difficult, no one will doubt this, but you should NEVER drag a child down the hallway. Not only is it traumatizing to the child, but she should have known that there would be intense consequences for doing that.
