The American education system is broken and in need of repair.
This was made evident after middle schooler Zachary Bowlin was suspended for 10-days by angry liberals after he “liked” a photo of an airsoft gun on Instagram.
When Bowlin arrived at school the next day, he was searched, patted down, and suspended for 10 days.
“I was livid. I mean, I’m sitting here thinking, ‘You just suspended him for 10 days for liking a picture of a gun on a social media site,’” Marty Bowlin, the seventh grader’s father, told the station. “He never shared, he never commented, he never made a threatening post … anything on the site, just liked it.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
WCMH noted that the reason given for the suspension was “liking a post on social media that indicated potential school violence.”
The folks at that school really need to learn how to identify the obvious differences between an airsoft gun and a real gun.
You can watch a video explaining the incident here:
To be fair, to someone who knows nothing about the differences between toy guns and real guns, seeing someone “like” a photo of a gun with the caption “ready” could be slightly concerning.
The Middletown Journal-News reported that school officials did eventually lift Bowlin’s suspension, but they have continued to attempt to justify their actions by claiming that the gun photo could be interpreted as a threat to the school.
“Yesterday evening school officials were made aware to an alleged threat of a student bringing a gun to school. We act on any potential threat to student safety swiftly and with the utmost importance,” read an email sent out to all parents at the school on Friday. “This morning, the alleged threat was addressed and we can assure you that all students at Edgewood Middle School are safe and school will continue as normal.”
What is our country coming to. Have liberals lost their mind? The Second Amendment provides us the right to bear arms and liking a photo of an airsoft gun shouldn’t result in a suspension. This is so shameful.
