President Donald Trump just made a huge change in the way that the United States approaches ISIS in the Middle East.
For years, former President Barack Obama bowed down to Turkey and refused to arm the Kurds.
That is all set to change after Trump announced that he would be arming the Kurds in order to help them take the fight to ISIS.
Conservative Tribune reports:
The Kurds have been among the most effective and reliable ground forces since the U.S.-led international coalition launched its air war against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
Thus American military commanders have long argued on behalf of arming the Kurdish fighters.
In fact, the Kurds have already proven their capability in getting to grips with the Islamic State group, as they recently captured a key Syrian town and a nearby dam from the militant group.
Their capture of Tabqa and Syria’s largest dam undermined the radical organization’s ability to defend Raqqa and disrupted its ability to plan attacks in Western countries, the U.S.-led international coalition against the Islamic State group explained, according to The Associated Press.
Dana W. White, the chief Pentagon spokeswoman, said in a statement that it was necessary to arm the Kurds.
“(T)he president authorized the Department of Defense to equip Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces as necessary to ensure a clear victory over ISIS in Raqqa, Syria,” she said.
Finally, we have effective leadership running this country. The days of Obama are over and we are making real progress in the Middle East.
