9/11 will forever be a day that Americans remember when we were our most vulnerable.
It took nearly a decade to track Osama bin Laden down and assassinate him. This may have been the only good thing former President Barack Obama ever accomplished.
Now, Ali Soufan, said bin Laden’s son, Hamza, wants to take up the fight against the West and join al Qaeda.
Soufan told “60 Minutes” that Hamza wants to honor his father and fight his enemies.
“He tells him that … he remembers ‘every look … every smile you gave me, every word you told me,”” Soufan said.
“I consider myself to be forged in steel. The path of jihad for the sake of God is what we live,” Hamza, then 22, wrote in the letter.
“He’s basically saying, ‘American people, we’re coming and you’re going to feel it. And we’re going to take revenge for what you did to my father … Iraq … Afghanistan’ … the whole thing was about vengeance,” Soufan said. “His recent message that came out, he delivered the speech as if it’s his father … using sentences, terminology that was used by Osama bin Laden.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
According to Fox News, Hamza bin Laden has called for lone wolf attacks against “Americans and other enemies of Al Qaeda,” a move that definitely wouldn’t surprise Soufan.
“He was a poster kid for the Al Qaeda,” Soufan said. “(A)nd for members of Al Qaeda, who were indoctrinated with these propaganda videos, he means a lot to them.”
Al Qaeda is hardly a thing of the past, either; CBS noted that it still had a consistent presence in roughly a dozen countries and had grown since the commencement of the Arab Spring back in 2010.
“Al Qaeda is stronger than ever,” Soufan warned. “I don’t believe even bin Laden in his wildest dreams thought that he will have followers who command armies, troops … lands.”
The American military should take this threat very seriously and be prepared to take Hamza out if needs be.
What do you think about this? Should the U.S. act fast, or take a wait-and-see approach?
