Secretary of Defense James Mattis is a strong leader and one who understands what it takes to defeat ISIS.
In a media briefing on Friday, Mattis announced that the U.S. military would continue focusing on its strategy to annihilate ISIS in order to prevent them from being able to harm innocent people.
“Those foreign fighters are a threat, so by taking the time to deconflict, to surround, and then attack, we carry out the annihilation campaign so we don’t simply transplant this problem from one location to another,” Mattis said, according to a transcript of the briefing. “We drive them down to a point where the locals can handle that and it’s no longer a trans-regional, transnational threat.”
“We’re there to drive ISIS to its knees,” Mattis said.
While Mattis didn’t provide an exact timeline, it is clear that he is committed to destroying ISIS.
Finally, we have real leadership in place. Under former President Barack Obama, ISIS made far too many gains at the expense of the United States. President Donald Trump and Mattis are in the process of drawing up plans to defeat the barbaric terrorist group once and for all.
