A couple from Mali was recently stoned to death after it was revealed that they were living together without being married.
According to the “Associated Press,” a man and woman from the town of Bamako were told to get into holes dug in the ground where they were put to death for violating Shariah Law.
“‘The Islamists dug two holes where they put the man and the woman who lived maritally without being married,” a Mali official explained. “They were stoned to death.”
The couple belonged to the nomadic Tuareg tribe and their death was ordered by a nearby town that is known for radical jihadism.
Despite this barbaric outcome, not everyone in Mali supports Shariah Law.
“This is barbaric,” said Oumar Diakite, who works with AMDH. “The people who did this should be arrested and put on trial.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
Unfortunately, human rights groups such as AMDH face an uphill battle in Mali. The nation has been dealing with a variety of Islamic extremists for many decades.
In 2012, extremists connected to Al Qaeda implemented harsh Shariah law, but were pushed back out of the country the next year.
That conflict with Al Qaeda created a power vacuum which was quickly filled by other groups, including Ansar Dine, which means “Defenders of Islam” in Arabic.
These kinds of incidents show why Islam is completely incompatible with American values. In 2017, stoning people to death for living together without being married shouldn’t be illegal.
