For any terrorists out there, you better fear the day the U.S. Navy SEALs come after you.
President Donald Trump and U.S. Central Command recently authorized a Navy SEALs raid in Yemen that resulted in 7 terrorists with ties to Al Qaeda being killed.
The raid officially took place on Tuesday. Two American soldiers were wounded in the raid, but they are expected to make a full recovery.
According to Capt. Jeff Davis, the raid was necessary as the target had been used by the enemy “as a headquarters, a place to meet and plan for external operations.”
“U.S. special operations forces have stepped up ground operations inside Yemen in recent months amid growing concern that AQAP continues to plan attacks on Western targets, including commercial aviation,” WBAL reported.
“Raids such as this provide insight into AQAP’s disposition, capabilities and intentions, which will allow us to continue to pursue, disrupt, and degrade AQAP,” a CENTCOM news release explained.
Conservative Tribune reports:
Surprise was a key element of the mission. Capt. Davis told the media that the opposing forces were most likely not expecting the SEALs and had not anticipated a raid so deep into Al Qaeda territory. He stated that the operation was the “deepest we’ve ever gone into Yemen to fight AQAP,” according to CNN and WBAL.
While special operations personnel fought on the ground, they were assisted by a formidable ally in the sky. A heavily armed AC-130 gunship reportedly provided air support.
In addition to the seven terrorist fighters killed by SEALs, an unknown number may have also been taken out by the gunship. Pentagon officials stated that they did not believe any civilians had been injured.
It is nice to see us taking the fight to the terrorists one day after they killed so many innocent people in Manchester, England.
What do you think about this raid? Should the United States engage in more raids like this one?
