You know you are fighting on the wrong side when a former Islamic extremist sides with President Donald Trump.
In a CNN segment that aired on Friday, former Islamic extremist Mubin Shaikh said Trump was right when he called all terrorists “losers.”
“I won’t call them monsters because they would like that term. They would think that’s a great name. I will call them from now on losers because that’s what they are. They’re losers. And we’ll have more of them. But they’re losers,” Trump said on Tuesday.
“How does that resonate? Does that embolden terrorists, are they laughing at it, are they angered?” CNN’s Brooke Baldwin asked.
“It depends … but look, your president was exactly right. I mean, at the base of it they’re murderers. They’re not martyrs, they’re not heroes,” Shaikh said.
“In order to de-legitimize and demystify … these are the phrases we need to use. Losers, you know, low-lives, scum bags, they all apply,” Shaikh added.
Conservative Tribune reports:
Shaikh speaks with some authority on the subject of terrorism. Born in Canada, he attended a Quran school as a child before joining the Royal Canadian Cadets, a youth program sponsored by the country’s military. However, he traveled to Pakistan as a young man, where he joined the Taliban and entered a life of extremism until the 9/11 attacks made him change his mind, according to U.S. News.
Since then, he has worked with Canadian intelligence forces in anti-terrorism cases and is working on a Ph.D. in psychology.
Considering Baldwin is with CNN, Shaik’s response might not have been the response she was looking for, but he has a has a point.
What Trump called militant extremists is certainly better than what former president Barack Obama called them: a “JV Team.” Because Obama never cared enough to take the threat of the Islamic State group seriously, attacks like the one in Manchester are far too common.
Do you agree with what Shaikh said?
