A British sniper absolutely destroyed a terrorist in Mosul, Iraq, recently.
According to reports, the British sniper fired the CheyTac M200 Intervention, a $13,000 sniper rifle.
Even crazier, the shot that killed the terrorist was fired from over 1.5 miles away.
Conservative Tribune reports:
According to The Daily Star, the incredibly difficult shot was made from a mile and a half away, and although the sniper was British, the rifle was uniquely American.
The firearm used for the operation was a CheyTac M200 Intervention, which is made in South Carolina. It fires an uncommon .408 caliber round, and is effective out to 2,500 yards, or 7,500 feet.
Those numbers are impressive, but they come at a price: $13,000 to be exact.
“It was a classic counter-sniper operation. The ISIS gunman was moving all the time to get into the best position to get a kill,” an anonymous military source explained to the Star.
“He certainly knew how to use the ground to his advantage and had clearly received military training,” the source continued. “The SAS team had him in their sights on several occasions but did not have the time to get a shot off. At such a long range there are so many factors which can affect the flight of the bullet.”
“Just as the light was beginning to fade, the gunman moved into what he thought was a safe location and lifted his rifle up into his shoulder before the SAS shot him dead,” the military source told the Star.
“The distance was so far that it took almost three seconds for the bullet to hit the target,” the report continued.
Beautiful. Terrorists deserve every bit of violence they get.
