Secretary of Defense James Mattis has a long reputation of doing whatever it takes to protect American interests abroad.
In a recent interview with John Dickerson on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Mattis suggested that he was the one who kept people awake at night.
“What keeps you awake at night?” Dickerson asked Mattis.
“Nothing. I keep other people awake at night,” Mattis bluntly responded.
Conservative Tribune reports:
If this line doesn’t perfectly sum up just the type of military leader America needs right now, then I don’t know what does. Mattis is just the type of hardened warrior that America needs in this chaotic time.
It’s nice to know that Mattis has a hand in our military, especially at a time when Iran is developing nuclear weapons, Russia is making aggressive moves all over the globe and North Korea is becoming a serious threat.
Mattis also suggested that he hopes the United States can maintain its identity and stop being driven by partisan politics.
“And I — I just hope we can find our way back to engaging with one another, arguing strongly with one another, and then going down and having a root beer together or something and — and having a good laugh about it as we work together for the best interests of the next generation of Americans who are going to inherit this country,” he said.
This is what real leadership looks like. What do you think about Mattis’ comments? Share this story on social media and leave a comment below.
