The Philippines is currently being ravaged by a group of militants from Abu Sayyaf, a group that is linked to ISIS and is known to kidnap and kill locals who are practicing Catholics.
In response to the chaos, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has declared martial law.
Recently, Lolo Peryong, 70, was attacked by a terrorist, but managed to survive long enough until the army could show up.
Conservative Tribune reports:
Philippine News Agency reported Peryong was cleaning his property on May 15 when Abu Ubayda, a member of Abu Sayyaf, walked onto his property with an M-16 rifle. While others fled, Peryong stood his ground against the terrorist.
bayda was part of an 11-man group that had slipped into the Bohol province last month. Ubayda was the last one standing, and the only thing between him and causing terror was a 70-year-old man with a knife.
After engaging the terrorist in hand-to-hand combat for several minutes, Peryong was injured by Ubayda after the terrorist managed to wrestle the knife from Peryong’s hands.
Fortunately, the Philippine army came just in time and was able to shoot and kill the terrorist. Peryong’s injures were not life threatening, and he is being hailed as a hero in the Philippines.
Peryong deserves a lot of credit for defending his land and village from these cowardly terrorists. It is amazing that he was able to hold his ground against a much younger person who had a gun.
