A restaurant in Washington, Kansas, closed its doors on Memorial Day for one of the best reasons ever.
Mayberry’s restaurant decided to stay closed on Memorial Day, simply saying they had “619,300 reasons” for their decision.
“We have 619,300 reasons to be closed Monday!” reads the sign. Underneath that line are the total number of troops that have been kill in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Kelly Ray, an employee at the restaurant, praised her employer for taking a stand and honoring America’s fallen soldiers.
“I just love the message,” Ray explained. “You don’t have to like our president or like some of the things our government is doing, but you sure better respect those who have laid down their lives for us to be able to live here.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
KWCH reported that Ray stated that many people have come up to thank him for putting up the sign and reminding everyone that Americans throughout the years have laid down their lives for this country.
While the numbers of dead on the sign may not be 100 percent accurate, what is accurate is that the country would not have the freedom it does today were it not for those brave souls.
This country only exists because generations of Americans have chosen to make the ultimate sacrifice so the nation can endure.
We must always honor our veterans and fallen soldiers, for they are the individuals that fought to guarantee our freedom.
