ISIS continues to torment the Western world, killing innocent women and children in the name of their twisted and false god.
Secretary of Defense James Mattis recently announced that the U.S. military would be heavily engaging ISIS in Raqqa, the Syrian city that has served as their de facto capital.
“The s*** is about to go down in Raqqa,” said an anonymous Pentagon official who is apparently well-heeled enough to make a donation to the Department of Defense swear jar. “I would expect to see the assault begin in the coming days.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
The Syrian Democratic Forces, the main U.S.-backed group in the region, is in the process of receiving small arms from the United States. Airstrikes on Islamic State group targets have also been stepped up. Residents of the besieged city are also being told to get out in order to protect them from crossfire.
Army Col. Ryan Dillon, a U.S. military spokesman, noted there were still about 200,000 civilians in the city.
Dillon also noted that the “SDF is poised around Raqqa. They are within 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) from the north and the east, and are about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the city to the west.”
Mattis recently appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” where he discussed how forces in the region “are going to move in an accelerated and reinforced manner, throw (the Islamic State group) on their back foot.”
“We have already shifted from attrition tactics where we shove them from one position to another in Iraq and Syria, to annihilation tactics where we surround them,” Mattis said, noting that efforts were underway “to surround their self-declared caliphate capital of Raqqa.”
Finally, we have real leadership leading the war against ISIS. Are you happy with the way the Trump administration has dealt with ISIS so far?
