The Democrats have been looking for any reason to try and take President Donald Trump down.
Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia appeared on CNN on Sunday where he proceeded to admit that the Democrats on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence have no “smoking gun” in the Russia probe.
“Listen, there’s a lot of smoke,” Warner said. “We have no smoking gun at this point. But there is a lot of smoke.”
“And, again, one of the questions we will have, not only for Director Comey on Thursday, but on Wednesday for Director of National Intelligence Coats and NSA, National Security — NSA Director Admiral Rogers, I’m going to want to ask them, because there have been reports that the president also talked to both of them in terms of asking them to downplay the Russian investigation,” Warner continued.
“That would be very concerning to me.”
The Democrats have nothing on Trump, and as much as Hillary Clinton wants to believe that they do, Trump will survive the Russia probe and continue to show the American people what real leadership looks like.
Clinton recently accused Trump of being in bed with the Russians.
“I’m leaning Trump. I think it’s pretty hard not to. I think that the marriage of the domestic fake news operations, the domestic RNC Republican-allied data, you know, combined with the very effective capabilities that the Russians brought,” said Clinton at a conference in California last week.
Warner was careful and distanced himself from Clinton.
“I’m not where Secretary Clinton is in terms of jumping to a conclusion,” Warner said. “But this is one of the many questions that we need to investigate.”
