An Oklahoma man didn’t think twice when his neighbor’s daughter came rushing over and told him that her stepfather was killing her infant brother and sister.
According to reports, a 12-year-old girl rushed over to Cash Freeman’s house and told him that her stepfather was trying to drown her infant brother and sister.
Freeman rushed over to his neighbors house and shot Leland Foster, 27, as he was drowning two infants in the bathtub.
Around the same time, dispatchers received a call from the frantic mother alerting them of what was going on.
Conservative Tribune reports:
While dispatch reportedly immediately sent police on their way to intervene, only God knows whether the babies would have survived had Freeman not taken action. According to Ada News, he armed himself with a revolver, entered his neighbor’s home and fatally shot Foster twice.
When the police arrived, the twin babies were transported to a hospital and, thankfully, survived. As for Foster, he was dead.
Freeman now worries that the district attorney’s office may choose to charge him for shooting Foster, though another neighbor, Summer Pierce, is confident he has nothing to worry about.
“I think he did the right thing because who knows what would happen, because who knows what would have happened to the babies if he hadn’t intervened,” she told KFOR. “They might not have made it.”
Freeman better not get charged for this. He risked his own live to save the lives of two infants. If our justice system punishes him for that, it will only show that you should never intervene to save the lives of our most vulnerable.
