An Argentinian dog is lucky to be alive after locals found him covered from muzzle to tail in tar.
Locals found the dog covered in tar, barely clinging to life.
Rather than put him out of their misery, they took it upon themselves to alert the authorities, who cleaned the dog up and helped him return to healthiness.
Conservative Tribune reports:
The pair recognized that the damage done to the dog was far outside their abilities to relieve, and they reached out to a police officer to assist. They then got the animal to a local veterinary center, and animal rescue group Zoonosis Lanus volunteers were called in to lend a hand.
It was a daunting task — they cleaned the dog for five hours continuously. It’s a lot of work for an animal no one knew, but there was no question that this animal’s life hung in the balance.
They freed the dog from the tar that nearly took his life, although he managed to pick up a permanent memento of the incident — his name, Petro.
Petro is extremely lucky to be alive. Thanks to the kindness of locals, this dog will live to bark another day and appears to be in good hands.
The two men who saved his life deserve credit for stepping in and doing the right thing. All too often, people are afraid to get involved and many would have just left the dog to die. Good on them for being a hero to that dog.
