North Korea has been pushing hard for months to develop its own ICBM to use against the West.
Typically, their ICBM’s explode seconds after launch because of their inferior quality, but Saturday report by Bloomberg has revealed that they are getting very close to having a functioning missile.
“U.S. President Donald Trump has said the world will never see North Korea reach the final stage of developing nuclear weapons that could reach the U.S., but recent strategic weapon tests have proved the country is ‘not far away’ from testing an ICBM,” a report from the Korean Central News Agency said.
Conservative Tribune reports:
This means, according to state media, that America’s anti-North Korean policies coming to an end could be a “near reality.”
While this is pretty doubtful, it’s rather clear that the ability to fire a missile that could reliably reach the United States would be a huge step forward for the North Korean military.
Park Jiyoung, a nuclear engineer who is a senior fellow with The Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul, South Korea, said such a test could take place in just a few months, with completion of the ICBM coming in a year.
“The North has already conducted a number of experiments to test various elements of the missile,” Park said. “It would now want to test all the elements put together.”
If true, the United States must prepare to deal with the North Koreans and a preemptive strike might be something that we need to consider.
We cannot allow the North Koreans to develop a functioning ICBM because there is no telling how they will use it.
