Self-entitlement is one of the worst qualities an individual can have.
A car dealership in Brighton, Michigan, recently decided to try and provide a job to a local panhandler that had been begging outside of the dealership for a long time.
However, they were shocked when the panhandler rejected the job, saying that he mad more money than any of them.
In response, the car dealership posted a sign to deter people from giving the panhandler any more money.
“Please do not give anything to this panhandler. We offered him a full time job at $10.00/HR,” the sign read. “He said: ‘I make more a day than any of you’ and he did not want a job. Please donate to a more worthy cause.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
The panhandler was well-known in the area, local resident Morgan Holt told MLIVE.com, saying she had driven by him every day on her way to work for the past two years.
A photograph of the dealership’s sign was posted to Facebook where it had been shared more than 6,000 times as of Thursday afternoon. Soon after it was posted, the man was no longer begging in front of the dealership, as he had been arrested for being drunk and disorderly, WJBK reported.
Unfortunately, this man isn’t the only one who would rather take other people’s hard-earned money in lieu of working for himself. Whether it’s people who fraudulently receive disability or welfare benefits — or use those benefits for things other than necessities — or people who simply choose not to work, knowing that either the government or kindhearted passers-by will take care of them, the entitlement culture has spiraled out-of-control.
This kind of behavior is so shameful and shows how pathetic some people really are. Hard work builds character and that is something that this panhandler needed a lot of.
