Passengers aboard an AirAsia flight were absolutely shocked when the flight’s pilot told them to buckle up and pray.
According to CNN, AirAsia Flight D7237 was carrying 359 passengers when it left Perth for Kuala Lumpur around 6:40 am local time.
At some point in the flight, the plane started to shake violently, prompting the captain to tell his passengers to pray for their lives.
“We were asleep and heard a loud bang around the 1-hour-and-15-minute mark,” passenger Damien Stevens told CNN. That is when the pilot directed the navigation system to turn the plane around and head back to Perth.
“It shook for the whole ride back, close on two hours,” Stevens added.
Conservative Tribune reports:
What the pilot said over the intercom during those two hours caused alarm for many of the already frightened passengers.
According to Stevens, the pilot asked passengers to pray twice. They were also told to hold in “the brace position,” during landing. “It was really shaky, very scary,” Stevens said.
According to CNN, it was unclear what caused the technical issue but the situation was isolated to the Airbus A330-300’s Rolls-Royce engines.
“Any imbalance inside a rapidly-spinning jet engine can cause violent vibrations that are felt throughout the aircraft. Twin-engine aircraft like the A330 are designed to fly and land safely with only one engine operating,” the outlet reported.

That would be absolutely terrifying to experience. The way those seats were shaking would make even the bravest individuals think they were going to die.
