President Donald Trump and his supporters are going to be very happy on Thursday night.
Around 8 pm, Trump’s travel ban is set to block all travel from several Muslim-majority nations for 90-days and it will ban refugees for 120-days.
On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 in favor of approving the travel ban.
Conservative Tribune reports:
The ruling has allowed the 90-day suspension of entry into the country for travelers from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen to proceed. The ruling only removed the temporary injunction imposed by lower courts, and arguments in the broader case are expected to be heard by the high court in October.
According to Time, those arguments to the Supreme Court in October may ultimately prove moot and unnecessary, as both the 90-day suspension on travel and 120-ban on refugees will have run their course by then, with the administration presumably devising and implementing their “extreme vetting” procedures in the meantime.
Time also reported that less chaos is expected at airports as the order is implemented this time around. The first rollout in January resulted in much confusion, but airlines and various government agencies involved are now better prepared to manage the process.
Of course, those deemed “close family” to individuals in the United States will still be allowed access to the United States.
The State Department clarified that “close family” means parents, spouses, children, or siblings, but made it clear that it will not include grandparents or grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, or fiancees.
Not surprisingly, liberals have been losing their minds over this announcement.
I for one am very happy that Trump was able to get his travel ban passed. It will give him a small window to work on immigration issues and to increase the safety of our country. When violent terror attacks go down, it will inevitably reveal that it was a success and that we need a policy like this on a more permanent basis.
