Jane Sanders and Bernie Sanders are currently being investigated for fraud after it was revealed that his wife secured a questionable loan while serving as president of Burlington College from 2004 to 2011.
As Jane tried to expand the university, she even tried to remove several disabled residents from a group home that happened to be in the way of the university’s expansion plans.
In 2010, when the school obtained a $10 million loan to expand, they tried to push out the disabled residents that were living on the property.
According to Judicial Watch, Jane sent a letter to attorney Todd Centybear, who was representing the 16 residents.
“It is simply not fair to expect the College to continue to carry the burden of the expenses associated with housing both your population and ours until February 2012,” she said in a letter obtained by Judicial Watch.
“The home for the disabled was being leased from the (Roman Catholic) diocese and Jane was supposed to help relocate the residents, not evict them,” the online watchdog reported.
Conservative Tribune reports:
The email exchange showed Jane’s “heartlessness” and her “incompetence as the college president for not ensuring the negotiated transfer of those disabled people before the school took over the property,” Judicial Watch continued.
It’s also worth noting that the loan eventually bankrupted the school in 2016.
Bernie Sanders is up for re-election this year, so the timing couldn’t be more worse for him. For self-proclaimed socialists who claim to care about the little guy, trying to evict disabled people from their home is definitely not a good look. However, if past behavior is any indication, this story won’t see the light of day from the mainstream media.
