When your survival is at stake, you often will find creative ways to stay alive.
This was exactly what happened to a group of British Special Air Service soldiers after they became surrounded by ISIS terrorists in Iraq.
According to reports, the elite soldiers were surrounded by up to 50 ISIS militants at a position in Mosul.
After a brutal firefight, 20 ISIS militants remained, but the British soldiers were low on ammo.
“The SAS unit was trapped in a small river bed,” a source reportedly said. “They did a quick ammo check and realised they had less that 10 bullets left between them. They knew that if they were captured they would be tortured and decapitated.”
“Rather than die on their knees, they went for a soldier’s death and charged the IS fighters who were moving along the river bed. They were screaming and swearing as they set about the terrorists.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
Using bayonets, knives and their fists, the men reportedly “bayoneted, slashed and beat the IS fighters to death” like the fictional war hero “Rambo.” They fought like “crazed warriors,” the source added.
One soldier even reportedly drowned one of the terrorists in a small puddle by forcing his face into the muddy water and holding it down until the thug stopped moving.
“He then picked up a stone and smashed it into the face of another gunman wrestling with one of his colleagues,” the source said.
Yet despite all their ferocity, the SAS soldiers didn’t realistically expect to survive the ordeal. Their goal at the time had been to simply go out in a blaze of glory.
After killing 12 of the remaining 20 ISIS militants, the other ones fled like cowards.
The soldiers were then able to continue to their rendezvous point.
