An angry Toyota Prius driver from Texas opened fire on a young couple last month after they flipped him off during a traffic disagreement.
“From what we were able to ascertain, they had been stuffed behind this Prius for a couple of towns,” Palo Pinto County Sheriff Brett McGuire later told the Houston Chronicle. “When they got to a place where they could pass, one of the occupants made an obscene gesture.”
But the Prius’s driver, 76-year-old Jay Brumbaugh, responded by pulling out his handgun and shooting at the young couple.
The shocked couple immediately called the authorities to notify them of what happened.
“They just happened to be coming down the main highway into the law enforcement center,” McGuire noted. “Obviously, it was right there. As we left the building we heard what sounded like a single gun shot.”
“We came out the front door and said, ‘Well that is convenient,’” McGuire added in a statement to the Weatherford Democrat.
Conservative Tribune reports:
Very convenient indeed. Authorities were able to quickly stop Brumbaugh and toss him into jail on two counts of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He later posted bail for $100,000.
As for the victims, they made it out OK.
“I don’t know where two of those shots went, but one hit the hood of the victim’s car,” McGuire said.
Good thing McGuire and his girlfriend were okay. When we think of Prius drivers, we often picture a super-liberal Democrat, but in this case, the driver of that Prius was a gun-toting Texan.
