It seems like North Korea is testing a new missile almost every other week.
Yet, for every missile they test, the West stands ready to shoot them down thanks to the awesome technology of the Oerlikon Skyshield, a ground-based short-range air defense system (SHORAD).
This amazing technology uses a “combination of sensors, effectors and command technology” to “bring down enemy aircraft as well as incoming rockets, artillery and mortar rounds.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
Developed by the Swiss company Oerlikon Contraves, a subsidiary of Rheinmetall of Germany, the system basically makes it possible for military forces to neutralize any incoming air-bound threats.
Plus, the system itself is easy to operate, relatively speaking, for a number of reasons. For one, the main modules, guns and launchers are all unmanned. Added to that is the fact that the primary command module can be operated from up approximately a third of a mile away.
“The entire system can operate in all weathers, is highly resistant to electronic countermeasures, and can be networked with other C4I systems,” Army Recognition notes. “The Skyshield system can also be networked with other air defense systems for wider and more effective air coverage, expanding its roles from point defense to area defense.”

With powerful defense systems like these in place, Kim Jong Un stands no chance.
