Billionaire and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, recently commented on the refugee crisis in Europe.
According to Gates, he believes that Europe took in too many refugees and has completely broken its immigration systems.
“On the one hand you want to demonstrate generosity and take in refugees, but the more generous you are, the more word gets around about this — which in turn motivates more people to leave Africa,” Gates told the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, according to a translation published by Breitbart.
“Germany cannot possibly take in the huge, massive number of people who are wanting to make their way to Europe,” he added, stressing that, “Europe must make it more difficult for Africans to reach the continent via the current transit routes.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
This astonishing statement completely repudiated the oft-peddled narrative by leftists in America and Europe that Western nations are obliged to cater to refugees. They’re not, and if even Gates, a liberal philanthropist with a record of donating to Democrats, realizes this, why can’t the rest of the left?
In fact, just last year German Chancellor Angela Merkel — the de facto leader of the European Union — stated unequivocally that it was “unacceptable” for members of the union to not accept Muslim refugees.
“What I continue to think is wrong is that some say ‘we generally don’t want Muslims in our country, regardless of whether there’s a humanitarian need or not,’” she told a German news station, as reported by the U.K. Independent. “Everyone must do their part, (and) a common solution must be found.”
This is very interesting to hear from a die-hard liberal like Gates. Perhaps there is still hope for the left to come to terms with the fact that mass and uncontrolled immigration is a dangerous thing.
