An innocent 54-year-old man from Cincinnati, Ohio, was recently punched in the face for no reason at all.
William Griffith Jr. was minding his own business and walking home from his job when he was attacked from behind from another individual walking down the street.
“I was stunned,” Griffith told WXIX-TV. “I couldn’t believe it. I mean, the dude came right up from behind me… for no reason.”
His assailant was later identified as Keith Capell, 29.
“This generation, I don’t know,” he said. “I’m old school. I’m 54 years old… I don’t know their motives… I mean, just to have fun?”
Conservative Tribune reports:
To an ordinary observer, the randomness of the attack makes it look like a fair candidate for the “knockout game,” a fad among youths that involves attacking unsuspecting victims, trying to leave them unconscious with a single blow. Reports of the game crop up periodically, and it’s never good news for the person on the receiving end.
In the surveillance video, Capell can be seen attacking Griffith, knocking him to the ground in one punch… and continuing to walk with other pedestrians like nothing had happened.
TheBlaze reports that Griffith suffered a broken jaw, black eye, and facial cuts due to the assault.
When Capell was arrested, he was found to be in possession heroin, and has now been charged with possession of drugs and felonious assault, according to WCPO.
Capell’s lawyer tried to claim that Griffith had threatened his client with a knife, but this doesn’t seem likely based on the video evidence that was submitted.
As a result, Capell is being held on a $260,000 bail.
Let us pray for Griffith to win this case. No innocent man deserves to be treated like that.
