Pope Francis criticized the United States in a statement on Thursday, suggesting that our country doesn’t understand how the world works.
The last time the Pope got involved in American politics was when former President Barack Obama pushed for abortion in 2009.
In his statement, Francis accused the U.S. of having “a distorted vision of the world”–(“una visione distorta del mondo.”
“Last Thursday, I got a call from Pope Francis,” said reporter EugenioScalfari. “It was about noon, and I was at the newspaper when my phone rang.”
“Pope Francis told me to be very concerned about the meeting of the G20,” Scalfari wrote.
“I am afraid there are very dangerous alliances between powers who have a distorted view of the world: America and Russia, China and North Korea, Russia and Assad in the war in Syria,” the pope said.
Perhaps the Pope should worry about the affairs of the Catholic church, such as the rampant pedophilia that exists within it and solving poverty.
Pope Francis means well, but his constant need to interfere in world politics shows how willing he is to abuse his power.
