President Donald Trump campaigned on the promise that he would crack down on illegal immigration.
According to National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd, there has been a “miraculous” drop in the rate of illegal border crossings since Trump took office.
“What we’ve seen is nothing short of miraculous,” he said. “If you look at the rhetoric that President Trump has given, it’s caused the number of illegal border crossers to go down … We’ve never seen such a drop that we currently have.”
Conservative Tribune reports:
It might look “miraculous,” but Judd said the actual explanation is simple: Simple enforcement of existing laws.
Back in the Obama-era, illegals could walk right up to the Border Patrol agents and offer to turn themselves in. They knew they would be given a court date and released — never to show up in court.
“We’ve got a set of laws on the books that say, ‘If you cross the border illegally, or if you commit this crime, these are the consequences that have been established,” Judd explained. “And the Trump administration said that ‘we are going to follow through on those consequences,’ something we didn’t see in the last four years in the last administration.”
“There’s a vibe, there’s an energy in the Border Patrol that’s never been there before in 20 years that I’ve been in the patrol,” Judd said, according to Business Insider.
It’s hard to be mad at Trump because unlike Obama and Hillary Clinton, he follows through on his promises.
