Daily Mail reports:
This is the shocking moment a Michigan man pulls a shotgun on a police officer and forces the cop to open fire, killing him.
Marquette County Sheriff’s Office deputy Keith Romback was called out to the home of Clifford Leroy Tucker in Ishpeming Township on July 9 after he reportedly made suicidal statements.
The officer’s bodycam, which was uploaded to LiveLeak Wednesday, shows the shocking scene that followed – ending in Romback’s death.
According to TV 6, Romback was called out to Tucker’s home at 245 Silver Street when the incident occurred.
The footage begins as Romback parks up and approaches Tucker’s home. After Tucker opens the door, the cop – who appears to be familiar with the man – says he needs to come in, as Tucker has been ‘making threats to the hospital.’
Romback says they need to talk, but Tucker, standoffish, tells him to stay away, becoming increasingly aggressive.
‘If I want to hurt myself there’s not a f***ing thing you can do about it,’ he says. ‘Nothing.’
‘We got along so well yesterday,’ Romback says, seemingly changing tack after realizing aggression would get him nowhere. ‘What happened? Please…’
Tucker sits on his sofa and admits that he made a call to the hospital but adds: ‘When I get ready to blow my f***ing head off, there’s nothing you can do about it.’
The man seems to stew while Romback talks on his radio, then gets up from a couch and goes to a back room. Sensing that something is wrong, Romback follows him – only to see him grab a shotgun.
‘Clifford, don’t!’ Romback shouts several times, while Tucker, in an increasingly agitated voice, shouts back ‘Shoot me! Do it!’
The footage freezes as Romback fires four shots, and calls in the shooting.
Tucker was pronounced dead at UP Health System Marquette; Romback was not hurt in the incident.
On June 15, Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Wiese declared that there would be no charges against Romback, as he was in danger of death or serious injury from Tucker.
