A firebomb arson attack destroyed the presidential campaign headquarters of Marine LePen in Paris. The group behind the attack is a leftist organization that is going by ”Combat Xenophobia.” They are threatening to create more attacks between now and the election.
The building was also the site of multiple businesses, like insurance companies and some rented apartments. The fire department managed to get the fire out sometime before 3am. LePen sent out a tweet on Thursday morning saying that these attacks do not intimidate her and anyone who thinks otherwise is sorely mistaken.
She also criticized the government for allowing extreme-left groups to act and endanger the lives of citizens. LePen plans to make an official complaint and questions why her party was not informed about the attack by state services. It was especially indecent to have to learn about the incident from the news.
From Gateway Pundit:
Security requested at the office had been refused, she claimed, despite her party having been revealed as a prime target for extremists, specifically Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State.
France – although shifting politically – has been defined by the left since the 1968 student ‘’revolution’’, and has an active and well organized extreme-left which frequently clashes with police and political opposition.
Some have made light of the event. When asked for comment on morning television on the attempted arson attack, a smiling Christine Poupin of anti-capitalist party, the NPA, stated that ‘’They [the Front National] should extinguish their cigarettes. They need to be more careful.’’ LePen sent out a defiant tweet between scheduled television appearances this morning,
‘’Those who plan to intimidate us are badly mistaken. Nothing stops the French patriots! Our determination is total.’’
