A French man who was surfing in Honolulu was a victim of a Hawaii shark attack resulting in part of his leg being amputated.
The attack occurred on Davidson’s Beach and the victim was taken to a hospital on the island of Kauai, where he ultimately lost his leg. The beach was closed off after the attack on Friday, but was reopened on Saturday.
Reports now state that the man is “in remarkably good spirits” which is optimistic considering his recent attack and his newfound legless state. He lost one leg just below the knee.
The victim, who seems to have the amazing power to find the bright side in any terrible situation, is now setting goals for himself so that he can one day compete in the Paralympic Games.
HONOLULU – A man who witnessed a Hawaii shark attack says the victim is a French surfer who had part of a leg amputated but is in remarkably good spirits. Mac Pigott tells KHON-TV he visited the victim on Saturday in a hospital on the island of Kauai following the attack at Davidson’s Beach.
Pigott did not identify the French man by name, but he provided KHON-TV with a picture of him smiling from his hospital bed. Pigott says doctors amputated one of the man’s legs just below the knee. He says the victim is setting goals so he can compete one day in the Paralympic Games. Officials closed the beach on Friday after the attack. KHON-TV says it reopened on Saturday.
