Maddie Weiler is an extremely bright and quick thinking 12- year old girl. Her calm head and brave actions in the face of danger saved her and her little sister, 7 year old Mollie, from danger.
A carjacker climbed into her mother’s car when the mother was distracted, with the two girls still inside the vehicle.
There was a car crash that the family witnessed in Virginia, and the mother quickly pulled over the help the victims. This is when opportunity struck for the thief.
Paul Salsman, the carjacker, approached the car and unlocked the door through the window, quickly climbing in while the mother was trying to help.
Maddie immediately started punching Salsman and screaming for help. She put the car into drive so that he would not be able to start the car.
When asked about the situation, she said, “I just went for it.”
A 12-year-old girl has been lauded as a “hero” for saving her little sister after she outsmarted a carjacker who climbed into her mother’s car.
Maddie Weiler was in the car with her mother Brandie and seven-year-old sister Mollie when they witnessed a car crash in Virginia. They quickly pulled over to help the victims, however while Ms Weiler was on the phone to emergency services, Paul Salsman approached the car, unlocked the door through the window and climbed in, according to Williamsburg police.
“I just went for it,” Maddie said. “Nothing passed my mind except: ‘He is a psycho and he needs to get out of the car’.”
