Luis Arnold Lopez-Lara, a 25-year old illegal immigrant, teamed up with 23-year old Helmer Alexander Erazo to do the unthinkable.
They kidnapped and repeatedly raped a woman who was suffering from autism. She was walking past a mobile home, after getting upset and leaving her own house, when the two offered her alcohol and asked her to come inside.
She was warned by a third man not to listen to them or take them up on their offer, but she did.
Lopez-Lara gave the woman a beer, making her drunk, which incapacitated her white he made his advances. They repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped her and she was told that if she resisted, she would be killed.
She was starved for three days, offered only Mexican food (which she wouldn’t eat) and then fed water, chips and a candy bar, as she was held against her will.
There is an air of fear in the neighborhood since the incident throughout the neighborhood. Parents are afraid to let their children outside on their own.
“I haven’t let her ride the bus, I don’t want her out in the neighborhood, I don’t want her unsupervised,” neighborhood resident Lindsey Smith told Ozarks First.
“To have it literally be in our backyard and can throw a stone at these guys is horrible,” Smith said.
“Horrible, absolutely horrible. We’ve never had anything like this go on,” Smith continued. “We’ve never felt like we really had to lock our doors, lock our cars and watch our kids at night. Just not the town I grew up in anymore.”
Lopez-Lara and Erazo are being charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, rape and the illegal immigrant is facing deportation. Two other Hispanic men who witnessed the kidnapping and sexual assaults are awaiting charges. Lopez-Lara is being held by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office without bond and Erazo is being held on a $150,000 bond.
