Phobe Kannisto is a very generous mother who, in conjunction with her wholesome upstate New York family, made a touching contribution to those in need.
Her six sons, Andre (age 10), Silas and Emerson (8- year old twins), Herbie, Reed and Dexter (5-year-old triplets) were all a part of her new ‘homemade generous donation.
Their sacrifice was not an easy one, as the boys were often teased in school for their long locks.
The family did not get haircuts for years, growing out their hair all for their worthy cause. They totaled a whopping 17-feet worth of hair that was generously donated to “Children with Hair Loss.”
This organization works to provide hair replacements for kids that have medically-related hair loss.
Kannisto said that this cause hits particularly close to home when it comes to her and her family, as a close friend lost a son to cancer three years ago. The boy was close a twin, like her sons, and was also very close in age to her twins.
Unfortunately, Kannisto said her sons have been badly teased over their long hair ever since they started growing it out for the massive donation.
“One son has been teased more than the others,” she told HuffPost. “He and I have had many tear-filled conversations over the last several months. He explains the process of hair donation to his peers, and some of them just don’t get it.”
But despite any bullying they’ve been subjected to, all of Kannisto’s sons say they’d gladly grow out and donate their hair again — next time, they just hope their 2-year-old sister, Marah Taylor, will have hair long enough to join them.
